How does Solar PV Work?

  • There are many different types of Solar panel systems that can be installed and some of them might differ slightly from others depending on the specifics of the job. This is just a rough overview of how a system works.

    How solar PV works

    1 Solar panels collect sunlight and convert it to an electrical current.

    2 The current is converted to AC in the inverter and used to power your house.

    3 What you don't use gets stored in your battery.

    4 Excess energy gets sold back to the grid.

    5 Battery storage is used when your panels are not generating any energy.

    6 Energy is extracted from the grid if you use all of your generated energy and storage.

    For every installation we carry out, if we haven't already made a donation on behalf of a recommendation from a third party, we will make a donation to a charity that we choose in the area where the installation was carried out.
